Insuring your job hmmm....

After seeing a depressing photo of "extremely pretty" air hostesses on the TOI front page, made me wonder why we cant insure our jobs. There MUST be a very good reason why we see no need to handle over the headache to an insurer.

I agree one can always deposit his money and invest that "smartly" to take care of any untoward incident which leads to one losing his/her job.

But wouldn't be better if i cover your "job security" by assuring at least 75% of your salary for a year, 50% for the 2nd & 25% for the 3rd till you find the correct job (rather than desperately joining a low-profile company). Obviously the salary to be used should be the basic pay you were receiving when you were fired. This could be very useful suppose you get involved in an accident and the company considers you a liability it doesn't want to bear. You and your family can live with almost similar life-styles without much worry. Also, this would encourage bolder decisions to be taken by employees rather than always being conservative and fearful of being axed.

But obviously you need to keep putting monthly or annual payments which go to the premium of the contract.

Theres got to be a catch somewhere as it must be difficult for the insurer to assess risk. But it seems quite straightforward to me. One always has ratings for established companies and one can always assess the track record of an individual.

One possibility is that since you are always interested in operating only in the middle-income earning groups, it could be extremely difficult to work with low-income group as assessing risk would be almost impossible. Also, the high-income group would always consider themselves to be smarter investors.

Even then it seems to be quite a viable idea. Then why not have it??? hmmm...

Proof by Contradiction

Thm: Place any bet on the occurrence of an event E with a stake of P (in any currency) with me and I will lose it.

Proof by Contradiction :

I can disprove any counter claim of the existence of a bet on the occurrence of an event E' with a stake of P' with me in which I win, by taking a parallel bet that if we indeed find such a bet, I shall hand you P'/2 (in the same currency) otherwise you pay me 3P'/2 (in the same currency). You must understand that the odds are stacked more on your side; thats why there's a differential payment for the parallel bet.

To make the proof even more fun, one can try disproving with even higher stakes!!!

What am I good at ???

Today someone mockingly asked me what he believed I was good at. To just shut his mouth, I gave him some stupid reply.

But, it made me wonder why was it so important to find the answer of this "elusive" question. Other that the fact that it might help your ego, I believe that deciding that you are good at something at an early stage of life, even before witnessing the scale of the world is just deceiving yourself...

Why should one even bother what you are good at, when what you may be good at has no use. What one needs to understand is how to contribute his best to the "collective good". Finding ways to coordinate and bring the best out of each individual in his life, so that he in turn could spread the goodness to all. A "good" teacher is an example of such a personality, who can mold many personalities to be filled with the goodness of life or the evil ways.

I have a dream in which a collective force of good shall develop that shall take this world, filled with evil and greed, with surprise. That day we can send our children into this world without fear that the world would bring harm onto them. Until that day, my brothers and sisters, we must put our heart and soul into spreading the word of "everything that stands for goodness" to all those whom we meet, work and play with.

"Adventurous" Women!!!

Many of you Delhiites, would have heard CM Sheila Dikshit's remark on women becoming adventurous and staying out late in the night. Its really painful that our society has corroded to such low levels that women find it so difficult to live a "normal" life, where they can do things and do jobs without being pestered and living in the fear of eve-teasing, rape and other such deeply traumatic experiences. Some say that this is only a thing that happens in the cities and blame it back onto the women saying that sometimes they are only asking for it by looking so "provocative". But I totally disagree on that as women in villages generally be "extra" careful by staying in homes once the sun sets. However, in city life you can't curtail the freedom of a women to pursue the life she wants to.....

It seems obvious to me by now that "Indians" are a generally "pervert"ed class. Just seeing the no. of rape accusations per day should be proof enough. I just cant seem to realize why education and general economic growth seem to be not having sufficient effect on the "dicks" of these offenders. I somehow feel compelled to blame a part of this on the media. They have to change the way they report such matters. Because, i was wondering from where do these offenders get such ideas. Its all from the society and what they witness. They realize how helpless women get and this must be influencing them to square off their waise "fucked up" life. It just cant be possible that if one was parented and schooled well one could have come up with such a concept. I am damn sure the first time I heard this word was in a newspaper and realized what it was from the media itself.

However, the government cant do too much to change the media i guess.... But it can do a lot by stricter policing. They should have a special cell for "Safety of Women" or something like that. And they should put their top guys( and women of course) into it. There should be continuous policing of all areas in the city during the night. Essentially, the top police brass should be held responsible for the failure of the policing efforts. And very importantly there has got to be a very thorough checking of the kind of police joining such a force. You definitely don't want any one with a history of drinking problems joining such a force. Strict profiling should be done and the staff should be paid well. Importantly, they should be broken into small groups - one for each neighborhood. And they should be paid a bonus based on the review of that neighborhood. So we can have something like a neighborhood watch.

If we don't take these issues seriously, India's image will definitely get tarnished. Why are we such a "fucked up" country.... there are just too many problems.... and it soo sad that i am still an integral part of its 1 billion pop. and not doing anything about it other than just giving some simple ideas for people on the top who seem to be never implementing anything... Why.... Whats the use of making money, buying houses and enjoying your life when the whole society around you is degrading..... Running away from the problem is not the soln... Being blind isn't too...
