Inflation hits Old Delhi

Ustad Moinuddin's kebab prices sky rocket from Rs. 5 to Rs. 6. That is a 20% hike!!!

But I am sure he is just passing the increased costs of onions which he adds as an accompaniment.

But all said, those kebabs are the best! Period.

Ishq-e-Dilli

Old Fort is hosting a dazzling Sound & Light show, which was recently inaugurated by Dr. Hamid Ansari. The lines waiting to get a ticket and then finally enter the venue were just crazy today. So if you are planning on coming on a weekend, I suggest you come in at least an hour earlier.

But the moment you are past the crazy queues, you are welcomed in true royal grandeur, through a pleasant walk through a mighty gate and beautiful gardens with monuments scattered all around. All of this is a preparation for what beholds next. The moment the projector lights switch on and the background lights get dimmed, you will be completely dazzled by the superb effects on show. There is a lot of history encapsulated in the 1 hour show, but its difficult to follow quite a lot of it.

There are also two "item" songs, with item girls and item boys. I may be over exaggerating, but they seem totally out of place and could have been shortened. Those laser lights which come on during the "item" songs are also very distracting. So although there are moments in between when it gets a bit boring, it ends on a very nostalgic note and I was full of emotions. Even though Delhi was testing us with its chilly winds, my heart was falling in love with it...
