Inflation hits Old Delhi

Ustad Moinuddin's kebab prices sky rocket from Rs. 5 to Rs. 6. That is a 20% hike!!!

But I am sure he is just passing the increased costs of onions which he adds as an accompaniment.

But all said, those kebabs are the best! Period.

Ishq-e-Dilli

Old Fort is hosting a dazzling Sound & Light show, which was recently inaugurated by Dr. Hamid Ansari. The lines waiting to get a ticket and then finally enter the venue were just crazy today. So if you are planning on coming on a weekend, I suggest you come in at least an hour earlier.

But the moment you are past the crazy queues, you are welcomed in true royal grandeur, through a pleasant walk through a mighty gate and beautiful gardens with monuments scattered all around. All of this is a preparation for what beholds next. The moment the projector lights switch on and the background lights get dimmed, you will be completely dazzled by the superb effects on show. There is a lot of history encapsulated in the 1 hour show, but its difficult to follow quite a lot of it.

There are also two "item" songs, with item girls and item boys. I may be over exaggerating, but they seem totally out of place and could have been shortened. Those laser lights which come on during the "item" songs are also very distracting. So although there are moments in between when it gets a bit boring, it ends on a very nostalgic note and I was full of emotions. Even though Delhi was testing us with its chilly winds, my heart was falling in love with it...

My experiments with 'I'

Solitude is one of the greatest challenges one can face in life. However, introvert a person maybe social contact is essential. My last days in IIT have been the most challenging not because of how much work I have or the difficulty of the same, but because there was a huge transformation in my social setup.

I had to get used to going through a day with very little 'socializing'. Sometimes we underestimate what we have and only realize the importance of things when we are separated from it for a long time. Friends & family are important social nets to protect us from collapsing and the confidence they place in you is essential for getting by each day.

Reflections in the sky

The boy opens the palms of his hands and sees the hands of God and how they have helped him weather the difficulties he faced and sprinkled some Luck at the most precious of times. In the last two years, his hard work and determination has attracted attention and the same people who were unwilling to even see his face, take additional efforts to meet him.

The boy lifts his head and takes a good look around. There is not a soul to be seen. The tired legs fall and he lies down on the ground. He closes his eyes searching for that missing Love. He slowly opens his eyes and sees a millions stars twinkling in the sky.

A smile grows on the young boy's face...

Voyeuristic Tendencies

"The following had been whispered to me by Satan himself in my dreams and are in no respect the point of view represented or supported by me"

The erotica nowadays seems so passe.... It needs a revolution. Its the same old plot with different characters and different subplots.

People find novel ways of stimulating this genre by taking the less treaded path of invading others privacy rather than re-enacting that which is performed in private. Will this be a sustained trend has to be waited and watched.

It seems people get offended even when its others privacy we are talking about. But they never mind an enacted version of the same. Is it for the same reason that pornography seems so mundane and fake, so that the audience is never shocked by how realistically it can be portrayed?

Whatever it is pornography need some young blood. Casting 18-year olds in it doesn't really make a point.

Emotions

Nowadays I have problems blinking with my left eye & my tongue always sticks out like a dog. Technology has a weird way of screwing with our lives.

Sounds of girls giggling & chatting from afar tease your senses... If you lift up your head you will see the beauty infusing into the surrounding, bringing color & spark to a once lackluster barren land. And then it slowly dawns upon you that the grand cultural orgy tastefully called Rendezvous has arrived!!! :D

"Beware of getting hit by a motorized vehicle as you step out of the Bharti building. According to my calculations the probability of such an event is at least 10^3 times more than catching the H1N1 in any serious way." - Suban

Braid

The best game i have played recently. Its a fusion of puzzle, platform & story telling all fused in a beautiful & artistic package. Definitely the best puzzle-solving game I have everplayed and definitely in my all-time favourite list. Its the first time I have seen how gaming can be so artistic!!! For those who ridicule gaming and think its meant for kids, go and check out this game. It should dispel those thoughts & if it doesn't then you are too bland to appreciate art. Hope other game developers take note of this game and actually build some serious games rather than some sloppy stories with repetitive gameplay.

Nothing radically different in Firefox 3.5. The claimed speed improvement is too negligible to notice.

Blending 3D models with videos

Currently, we leave the work of capturing detailed videos to professional videographers & building complex & intricate 3D animated scenes to the likes of Pixar & company who take a painstaking effort, time & money in creating masterpieces. In fact even games are getting so realistic that they would be beating Pixar & company pretty soon. However, what we need is a simple conversion utility which will convert a video into a 3D world in which 3D characters can move about realizing the presence of walls and should be able to interact with the objects present in the videos. According to me this blend between videos & 3D animation is an interesting angle to research as it would open an exciting possibilities. Remeber playing Sims type game an walking down Champs Elysees with your date and making out with her, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. And obviously the woo-hoo can be done somewhere or the other :-P

Bookmarking Files

There needs to exist a better way to organize files on our systems than what is currently offered. The method of bookmarking and synching bookmarks with a central server have made accessing bookmarks much more easier from anywhere. A similar techinque is desirable for offline files. So if I star a file and associate some tags with it will store it just like a bookmark. Optional backup to an external drive can be provided. This would make searching similar files spread all over your computer much easier and would help in realizing which are the important files among the entire clutter. I am pretty surprised why this has been completely overlooked...

Western fashion sucks

Gone are the days when you could spot beautiful women adorned in flowing skirts or sensual saris. They have been replaced by the new crop of mini-skirt & micro-skirt generation. Most of the don't have the physique (i.e. long legs which some of their European counterparts have been gifted with) to complement such a carefree fashion statement. The women end up looking really awkward and resemble more like prostitutes who are desperately displaying their goods to make a living.

How can all this compare to bright, vibrant & flowing skirts. Something which just gives a hint of a silhouette of those hidden slender legs. Nothing could ever beat that. Also, a sari really complements an overall well developed body by gripping all those contours which most garments miss. However, a girl who is a bit plum would just never look good in a sari. Well there would be exceptions...

However, women don't realize what clothes suit them and usually just go with the same type what their peers wear. But by doing so your beauty which is very unique gets lost and you would not feel comfortable.

Humans have a curiosity & attraction for anything which is different from the crowd. Just wear an asymmetrical cut pants and you will be surprised by the amount of attention you can gain. By asymmetrical i mean one side cut up to the knees and the other a bit longer. I remember I could not keep my eyes away from a pretty girl just because she was wearing it and I was so intrigued by the dress. Btw I rarely check out girls but asymmetric designs make our brain just go in a tizzy.

However, although I will continue to lament the death of skirts which crossed the knees, I am a hypocrite because I too am a living example of being sucked into the whole Western fashion craze. I do so because the comfort levels can beat everything except maybe a "loongi". However, women anyways take so much effort in looking good so why not try something splendid & catchy which will make even the most gay guy turn his heads :-P

Just tested ping.fm today. The damn gtalk status message just doesn't change. Also the site has too much traffic and goes slow quite often
