Just finished an insanely addictive game - "Tradewinds Caravans 1.0". I know you must be wondering, how the hell could it be addictive, but i dunno these guys have made it sooo good that i decided to stop only when it said that the story mode was over and i could continue playing the "open road" mode. That sucks!!
But what got me surprised is how playing a game, makes me devote my attention and thinking into a single activity continuously, without really tiring me at all. There is something in these games which tingles some part of the brain that lets you maximize efficiency of our brain (and body too). This was something i saw in my buddy who used to play for over 24 hrs at a stretch.
There should be research going on how a game can somehow modify the way our brain & body works. I bet even a Yogi will find it difficult to match what certain games can do (to certain people). And do remember the yogi isn't really solving any problems (or slashing throats or giving headshots or carrying out a chain of perfect drifts or furiously applying keyboard shortcuts for his finishing moves). If scientists figure out what the secret behind all this is we would be able to switch ourselves into a "BERSERK" mode where we could keep doing (whatever we do) fultu!!!
Hoping that the insane profits made by the Gaming industry go into finding the next whacky thingy, which will ensure that no parent/teacher will say - "Gaming is just a waste of time"
